Stop Obsessing Over the Scale: True Health Starts From Within
Let me just say this straight: the number on the scale is not the full story. It never has been, and it never will be. I weighed 130 and was in worse health than I've ever been. I'm now two kids later 160 pounds and in the best health I've ever been in. Let's break everything down.
For years, I chased that number. I let it dictate my mood, my worth, and even how I fed my body. But the more I focused on shrinking myself, the more I lost sight of what really mattered—my health from the inside out.
As someone who has reversed type 2 diabetes holistically (twice!), I can tell you with confidence: weight is only one piece of the puzzle—and often not the most important one.
Here’s what I’ve learned:
You can be “thin” and still struggle with inflammation, blood sugar imbalances, hormone issues, or poor gut health. You can also be in a larger body and have excellent metabolic markers, balanced energy, and a strong immune system. True health isn’t about being skinny—it’s about balance, resilience, and how your body functions internally.
So instead of asking:
“How much do I weigh today?”
Ask:
“How’s my digestion?”
“Is my energy steady?”
“How are my moods?”
“Do I sleep well?”
“Am I nourishing myself—not punishing myself?”
The Real Markers of Health
When I work with clients, I care more about:
Blood sugar stability
Gut function
Hormonal harmony
Inflammation levels
Mineral absorption
Energy, clarity, and joy
These are the things that tell us how well your body is actually doing—not the blinking number on a scale that doesn’t even know if you’re holding water weight or muscle.
You Are Not a Number
If you're working to heal your body, give yourself grace. The scale might not move right away—or it might move in ways you don’t expect. Healing isn’t linear, and real health is deeper than aesthetics.
So next time you feel tempted to step on the scale first thing in the morning, pause. Tune in. Ask your body what it really needs today. That’s where the magic starts.
You deserve to feel good—not just look a certain way.
